RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Colombia international defender Carlos Cuesta has joined Vasco da Gama on loan from Galatasaray, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Monday.

The 26-year-old agreed to a deal that ties him to Vasco until December 2026 with an option to buy.

"I'm delighted to come to Vasco and I hope to help the team win everything," the center-back told the club's official website.

Cuesta, who is contracted to Galatasaray until June 2028, has made just nine appearances for the Turkish club since his February move from Belgium's Racing Genk.

Vasco is currently 15th in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with six wins from 22 games so far. ■
