BEIJING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Li Xi met here with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday, who is in China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025, as well as commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said China commends President Muizzu's firm commitment to a friendly policy toward China, and stands ready to work with the Maldives to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and build a China-Maldives community with a shared future.
Li introduced China's efforts to advance Chinese modernization and to strengthen full and rigorous Party self-governance, and expressed China's readiness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Maldives in relevant fields.
Muizzu said that the Maldives and China have always respected and supported each other, and that the Maldives will continue to stand firmly with China. He looks forward to attending Wednesday's commemorations. ■
