RIO DE JANEIRO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo extended their lead at the top of Brazil's Serie A standings on Sunday when a late Felipe Vizeu strike handed them a 1-0 victory over Corinthians.

The winner came after Lucas Paqueta's curling shot was parried clear by Walter only for Vizeu to prod in the rebound at Flamengo's Luso Brasileiro stadium.

Flamengo are now four points clear of second-placed Cruzeiro at the top of the 20-team standings with 20 points from nine matches.

Defending champions Corinthians have slumped to eighth with just four wins from their nine fixtures.

In other matches on Sunday, Gremio won 2-0 at Bahia, hosts America Mineiro overcame Atletico Paranaense 3-1, Santos won 5-2 at home to Vitoria and Cruzeiro won 1-0 at Ceara.
